ProgeSOFT provides support to Save the Children Organisation

ProgeSOFT offered its contribution to the operations of reconstruction of the Nepal regions hit by the devastating earthquake which struck Nepal on 25th April 2015. The earthquake ravaged multiple Nepal areas echoing in India, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan and causing damages to persons and property.

For years the ProgeSOFT company has been supporting Save the Children, the international independent Organisation that saves children’s lives, fight for their rights and take an active part in aid operations in the regions struck by natural disasters. In the present emergency aid operation Save the Children’s teams assisted Nepal’s children and their families giving out hygiene kits, tarpaulins and materials to set up temporary shelters to guarantee the safer and more protected conditions.

ProgeSOFT has given its further humble substantial support by donating some progeCAD licences, the CAD software program for professional drafting,  necessary for the Organisation to create design project  documentation for the shelters construction. For the Save the children Organisation the task of dwellings reconstruction is even tougher and more complicated due to the hard climatic conditions. The progeCAD software was used to create design projects of 1000 temporary classrooms to allow the children to resume their studies.

ProgeSOFT pushes the right buttons to make clients happy!

In his glowing testimonial about progeCAD Professional, Mr PRS Sivakumar tells his story about switching to the economical CAD solution and elaborates on the discovered perks of progeCAD:

“We are veterans in CAD since 1996. When my office switched over to progeCAD when the 2011 version came with a special Indian Price tag, that was the wisest move I had made in the whole of my professional life. (When I said “switched over”, it was not a transition – my staff & myself got accustomed to progeCAD in half a day). I have the “lighter” version of the Big CAD 2014 on 5 of my computers installed concurrently with progeCAD. These are Core-i3 with 8 GB RAM with Nvidia GT 630 graphics cards with 2 GB VRAM. While progeCAD runs effortlessly & superbly on these machines (even with much leaner hardware too – which my friends have), the other CAD limps & stalls every now & then. And I did not renew my subscription to the expensive “lighter” version of the Big CAD. Every year it is getting more & more expensive and demanding more & more power from the computer – and it became a very painful annual expenditure.”

Then in his testimonial Mr PRS Sivakumar moves on to disclosing his company daily routines and working peculiarities as well as the way progeCAD is applied to this:

“We routinely produce not less than 300 detailed drawing sheets for an individual Bungalow/ Villa and about 1000 drawings for star hotels etc. And we have not had any trouble doing these on progeCAD nor any loss of productivity when compared with the expensive CAD.”

[…] I am writing this review from an architect & interior designer’s point of view. But this 2016 version has a host of other new features for professionals in other disciplines of Engineering. (which I have not explored nor used). progeCAD has some exclusive features which are highly useful in day-to-day works when the expensive CAD does not have. Converting a PDF drawing file to a .dwg format can be done with ease with the pdf converter plugin readily available within progeCAD. I have found that this does a much superior job in giving clean .dwg drawings including the layer contents on different layers – which even the expensive pdf to dwg converter sold separately by 3rd parties fail to do. And the expensive CAD does not even have this mostly used utility.”

The architect spotlights the financial aspect as one of the fundamental benefits of progeCAD noting that: “progeCAD in India costs less than 1/10th the price of the Full Version CAD and less than 1/3rd the price of its younger brother, the lighter version of CAD which had 2d capabilities with much lesser 2D features than its bigger brother. So even as a 2D CAD it was deprived of many advanced 2D functionalities which the bigger brother had”.

Users are often unwilling to change easily their software they get accustomed to, but in conclusion Mr PRS Sivakumar readily assures that progeCAD is a sustainable solution and a surefire choice:

“If somebody asked me on sustainability with running cad programs, then progeCAD is the way to go. One would never regret – it is an investment rather than an expenditure”.

Molnet och Dropbox i nya versionen av lågprisalternativet ProgeCAD

Hårt satsande lågprisalternativet till AutoCAD, ProgeCAD, har släppt en ny version – 2016. Den är fullt kompatibelt med AutoCAD 2016 och Windows 8.1. 

– Men den nya versionen av ProgeCAD är allmänt fullmatad med nyheter, t ex stöd för Microsoft One, Google Drive och Dropbox. Här finns också ny avancerad solidhantering och dynamisk inmating och UCS, säger Hans Engström på Eurocitydata.

En viktig bit i nya ProgeCAD är molnet.
– Med ProgeCAD Moln blir det enkelt att komma åt ritningar var man än befinner sig, säger Engström. Det är också ett optimalt sätt att dela ritningar inom arbetsgruppen och med kunderna, ProgeCAD Moln stödjer de vanligaste molntjänsterna för fildelning och synkronisering som Dropbox, Google Drive och Microsoft One Drive. ProgeCAD:s konfigurationsinställningar sparas i molnet och kan enkelt exporteras till en annan PC.
Dynamisk inmatning. När det gäller nyheten med dynamisk inmatning så är det ett alternativt sätt att ange kommandon genom en kommandorad vid hårkorset. Man kan ange data som en längd för en linje eller en radie för en cirkelmed dynamisk visning av ändringar relativt musens rörelser. När dynamisk inmatning är påslagen visas dynamiskt uppdaterad information bredvid markören. När ett kommando pågår kan du ange alternativ och värden i textrutan. Man kan också konfigurera den dynamiska inmatningen till sin egen eller företagets standard.
– Denna funktion är till för att ytterligare öka produktiviteten genom att göra ritandet och redigerandet ännu mer effektivt, säger Engström.

ProgeSOFT unveils progeCAD 2016 Professional, the new edition of the cost-efficient general-purpose CAD platform

Listed below are the main new features of the progeCAD 2016 edition:

  • Dynamic input, a command line interface at your crosshair to enter commands and coordinates with interactive display of changes; configurable according to your personal or company standards.
  • Dynamic UCS, to speed up 3D modelling this feature automatically creates a temporary plane to draw on, so you don’t need to constantly specify a new UCS to change views.
  • Cloud integration. Enhance collaboration and simplify teamwork through an easy reach to your drawings! progeCAD Cloud supports the major cloud services for file sharing and syncing like DropBox, Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive.
  • Advanced Solid grips, enriched 3D editing through the grips. Select and drag black squares of grips on a 3D model to alter the shape and size of primitive solids. The change of one parameter will maintain the overall solid shape by automatically updating other parameters.
  • 3D Ortho. Classic X,Y Ortho snap modes have been beefed up by orthogonal snap mode for the Z-axis, restricting cursor movement not only to horizontal and vertical, but also in the up and down directions.
  • Annotative objects, the feature automates the sizing of annotations such as text(single and multi-line), dimensions, hatches, tolerances, blocks and block attributes in multiple viewports with varying scales. The annotative objects are scaled based on the current annotation scale setting and are automatically displayed at the correct size.
  • Drawing Fields. Save time and improve accuracy using fields to automate the insertion of titleblock text or other annotations in a drawing, especially, when this text occurs repeatedly like it is in case of the current date, the drafter’s initials, the company name and address etc.
  • ARCTEXT, the command enables text alignment along an existing arc object, very handy when adding complex curved text in drawings.
  • Breakline, the command line creates a breakline, a polyline including a breakline symbol, by specifying two points and the location of the breakline symbol between them. You can control the relative size and appearance of the breakline symbol and the extension of the polyline beyond the selected start and end points.
  • PDF/A Print. Create PDF files compliant with the PDF/A Standard often requested by official institutions and public administrations and used for long-term archiving.
  • Change Space, the CHSPACE command to move or copy entities from Model Space to Paper Space or the other way round very quickly and easily. Entities are also scaled by the viewport scale to come out in the correct size.
  • Draw order advanced tools, control of draw order of CAD entities through a new toolbar.
  • Autocomplete command mode. Enhanced command line input assisted by a list or auto completion of commands and system variables as they are being typed.
